The fuel tank holds 9 liters of fuel, which is more than enough to race between two red lights. To get a more racing driving position, the stock handlebar was replaced by clip-ons. The cooler was replaced with a smaller yet more efficient one than stock, and rubber hoses were replaced by aluminium pipes for a more radical look. He began by keeping the original gas tank due to its volume, shape and the useful fuel pump inside. The subframe is cut and replaced with a new one that allows a YSS rear adjustable shock to fit perfectly. One of the most challenging parts of the build was the empty V space under the seat. BMW K Series have a lot of electronics, so hiding all of them is not an easy job. An elegant solution was found by putting most of the wiring inside of the airbox and using a cone filter instead of the original one. The old front mudguard was reshaped into a duck beak fender that follows the tank's lines. Rear fenders, plate holder, rear light and indicators are adapted from a Regal Raptor Bobber.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eUpgrades\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eTo match the increased air intake of the new cone filter, an open carbon fiber muffler from LeoVince is installed. Up front a PIAA grid headlight is installed to complete the scrambler look together with new indicators. The body is finished in a HP BMW paint scheme and is fitted with knobby K74 Heidenau tires. This includes a heavily modified main frame and completely hand-built rear frame, as well as a full custom suspension set up and a rare set of racing wheels. To add to the agile and perfectly sleek silhouette the bike needs to cut through downtown city traffic, a front mask and seat cowling were hand built to match the vintage 70s gas tank. Low slung clip-ons and CNC machined rear sets came from ABM and provide an aggressive seating position for the driver. All of the electronics and wirings are carefully hidden under the frame, creating a flush and elegant look. Even the handlebar features an internal throttle cable, hand shifter and clutch to get rid of overcomplications in the lower controls. A cut-up battery by Antigravity was fitted into the bespoke fuel tank and the rest of the electronics were housed under the engine.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe Build\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eMax Hazan has a tendency to create every little thing by hand. The only things he bought for this bike were the tires, wheels and the headlight. Starting off by mounting the engine on his workbench, he began sketching his vision of the Musket. The sketch is then used as a reference for measurements when cutting the material. After hiding away all the cabling and electronics, Max cut into the primary drive and moved everything outwards for a disc brake in the transmission. The tank and fenders were shaped from .16 or .18 gauge 6061 aluminium, and the frame is built with 7\/8-1 1\/4 inch steel tubing. He built the tank to accentuate the engine without cluttering the view of cylinder heads and rockers. It served as a challenge for Max, creating a thin polished aluminium tank and fender from scratch. It took numerous attempts to get these right due to the thickness of the metal. Then, Max created the forks himself. Built with the concept of having tension instead of compression, this allowed him to use thinner steel. Bearing bronze was used for the shocks and forks. Max created a beautiful wooden seat out of beautifully aged walnut that elegantly sits beside the tank. Mark worked on each and every problem as they surfaced, making sure that everything worked perfectly. As soon as he reached the body fabrication stage, he stepped off as he did not feel comfortable building someone else's design. In a last effort, he contacted Mehmet again. This time there was an answer. Mehmet explained that he was contacted many times before to bring the bike to reality, with no success. Mark had already begun building the bike, so they started collaborating together to make the best out of the Alpha.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThey shared 3D designs and each day's progress together, taking care of every little detail. Mark had to go through piles of information to create the plug for the mold of the body. He used eight gallons of filler, finishing the plug and ending up with a perfectly symmetrical and balanced mold. He then rebuilt and created new seals, finishing them in a new coat of paint. To create the front body, Mark went with a rather unusual choice, basalt. Basalt is lava rock that is extruded into thread and weaved together in a cloth. It offers strength and is not as brittle as carbon fiber. He vacuum bagged the whole body and covered it in epoxy resin. Under the nosepiece lies a patented center hub steering setup that uses tiny hydraulic cylinders. The motorcycle comes complete with lights, turn signals and a horn. The obvious strength is the engine, a beefy inline six with 105 bhp. Even by today's standards, that is quite a respectable number. Weaknesses hid in the front end, where the brakes could not sustain the power of the beast. The frame and the forks also could not handle the heavy load, so they had to be reworked.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eBodywork\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThere was quite a lot of body work to be done to replace the old pieces and parts from the motorcycle that could not handle the load of the engine, starting with the front and back end. They ripped these pieces off a Yamaha Fazer8 and began working on adapting those to fit the classic CBX. Forks, front wheels and brakes were easily installed in the front but the rear of the bike was not so easily susceptible. The rear swingarm was shortened 16cm to maintain the axle to axle ratio, and despite being shortened, it maintained the same standard length after the replacement. They also had to widen the rear frame for the new swingarm and new suspension mounts for the monoshock setup were installed with adjustable height. To further reinforce the rear end, they cut off the original motor mounts and replaced them with custom CNC-machined brackets. The tank received a new cap and vent from a VFR400 and the tail was shortened and a new custom leather seat was installed. Even the huge square taillight is present, but it is upgraded with LEDs to give a futuristic look while maintaining its classic shape.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eUpgrades\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003ePerformance is an obvious factor to this motorcycle so it did not go unnoticed. Six new Keihin CR carbs were installed in the inline-6 monster to replace the now thirty-year old carbs. All of the cylinders have their own exhaust, resulting in a complicated six-into-six exhaust system. The stainless steel tubing of the exhaust system was so massive that they had to relocate the side stand to the front of the bike. Electronically the bike was reworked and treated with simplicity in mind, replacing the stock battery with a lighter Lithium-ion battery from Antigravity. To power up the motorcycle, an aircraft-style button is mounted on the oil cooler mount and using a push-button you can start it. The bars are full of mini-switches that organize the controls in a minimal way. The dashboard features a Koso speedometer, ProTaper clamps, bars and grips. Hand and foot controls were ripped off the Fazer too. The devil is in the details, and that is where Herencia shines.
