It was designed by Renault and was used for the 1968 Formula One season. The car was a real success easy to drive and very responsive. Graham Hill with the Lotus-Ford 49 became the main driver for Lotus after the sudden death of Jim Clark during the F2 race in Hockenheim. This was an incredible year for Graham Hill who won the championship title with a huge point lead over the second place.
