The Ducati Pandora by Young Guns Speed Shop is a commissioned design study built on the Ducati Monster 1200 R platform, a custom cafe racer that draws from 1970s GP racing iconography while deploying entirely contemporary engineering solutions to create something that sits outside any existing category.
The Concept
When Ducati commissioned Young Guns Speed Shop to build a design study, the brief invited a radical reinterpretation of the Monster platform. The builder drew inspiration from the iconic Ducati 900SS and 750 Sport of the 1970s, machines that defined the look of Italian performance motorcycles for a generation, while insisting on a contemporary visual language that could not be mistaken for a replica. The Pandora was born from that tension: between reverence and reinvention, between a Grand Prix bike and a modern street machine.
The Build
The most consequential engineering decision on the Pandora is the relocation of the fuel tank to the rear of the machine. This allowed Young Guns Speed Shop to use the space beneath the conventional tank position to house all electronic components including the battery and ABS unit, keeping the front profile uncluttered and visually dominated by the chassis. The relocated 9-liter fuel tank is entirely sufficient for spirited riding between destinations. Clip-on handlebars replace the standard unit to establish a proper racing riding position. The cooling circuit was redesigned with a more compact and efficient radiator, and rubber coolant hoses were replaced by aluminum pipes for a more mechanical aesthetic. The factory exhaust was replaced with a handcrafted megaphone fabricated from flat sheet metal, producing a sound profile that matches the visual drama of the build.
