Akhal Shadow - Luxury Bicycle

The Akhal Shadow is a limited-edition luxury bicycle handmade in England by design house Extans. Built around a monocoque carbon frame finished in volcano black chrome, it is the darker of the two Akhal editions: pure sculpted lines with no compromise on lightness.

The Concept

Extans designed the Akhal to express a modern, minimalist elegance in quality lightweight materials. The bike takes its name from the Akhal-Teke horse, one of the rarest purebred horses in the world, prized for endurance, intelligence, and a distinctive metallic sheen. The Shadow edition mirrors the volcano black coat, while its sister Shine wears silver-sand white. Shaped with energy, harmony, and balance, the Akhal Shadow is engineered to be an iconic object that lasts, produced in only 99 limited-edition units, made to order and open to bespoke customization.

The Build

The frame is a full monocoque carbon structure, paired with a full carbon fork, carbon seat post, and full carbon handlebars with integrated stem. Head, dropouts, and seat clamp are CNC machined from a single solid aluminum billet for structural purity. The drivetrain is a Gates Carbon Drive CDX single-speed belt with a 55/22 gear ratio, paired with a Shimano Alfine crankset. Braking comes from Shimano Dura-Ace BR-R9100 units, front and direct-mount rear, actuated by Paul Components levers. The bike rolls on a full carbon wheelset shod in Pirelli P Zero 28-622 tires, with a Fabric Scoop Pro saddle and Moto Reflex flat pedals.
