The Beau Lake "The Tahoe" Runabout is a 14-foot zero-emission luxury lake boat that recasts the golden-era wooden runabout as a silent, all-electric craft. Built by Canadian design house Beau Lake, it swaps the roar of a vintage inboard for a whisper-quiet Torqeedo drivetrain, without giving up an inch of classic beauty.

The Design

Beau Lake is a Toronto-based studio known for blending Muskoka-cottage nostalgia with modern materials. The Runabout is their electric take on the mahogany vintage lake runabout, styled after 1950s Chris-Craft and Riva silhouettes yet built for the eco-conscious buyer. Every visual cue, from the varnished mahogany deck and inlaid veneer to the polished stainless steel castings, is tuned for slow, cinematic cruises across a private lake at sunset.

What Makes It

The boat is built around a molded fiberglass tunnel hull for stability, topped with a honeycomb-core fiberglass deck infused with real wood. Available in select mahogany, the deck is fully epoxy and glass encased for zero maintenance. Interior touches include leather marine-grade upholstery, a hand-carved wooden tiller that steers the propeller column, a smoked UV-protected acrylic windscreen and an under-bow locker for storage. A sprung-lift, self-bailing cooler contours the aft cockpit, ready for a bottle of white on a summer evening.

On the Water

Propulsion comes from a Torqeedo Cruise 2.0 FP electric motor: 24 V, 2.0 kW, 1300 rpm, paired with a lithium-ion smart battery from the German electric marine specialist. Silent, vibration-free and emission-free, it makes the Runabout ideal for lakes with combustion bans and for owners who want to hear the water instead of the engine. Self-bilging and light at 158 kg, the boat is easy to trailer, launch and store.
