BMW R9T - Gelber Baron

The BMW R9T Gelber Baron is a custom tracker built by NCT Motorcycles on a brand-new 2017 R9T, pairing a bold yellow and black racing livery with the full power of the BMW Motorrad boxer engine and a suite of high-end component upgrades.

The Concept

NCT Motorcycles started with a donor bike that had just one kilometer on the odometer. The decision to use a brand-new BMW R9T rather than a worn example reflected NCT's philosophy: build something exceptional from the best possible foundation. The entire motorcycle was stripped to its bare frame, the engine pulled to expose every detail, and the project was rethought from scratch with a classic tracker aesthetic as the target.

The Build

The stock rear end was removed and replaced with a new rear frame, powder coated in black to match the chassis. A partner company crafted a handmade seat in a deep blue colorway that contrasts with the signature yellow. The fuel tank came from an older BMW RS100RS, painted in a striking yellow with black racing stripes on both sides. Electrical components and controls were retained from the original BMW for reliability, but turn signals were swapped for Motogadget units and the rear light was upgraded to full LED. Mirrors are also Motogadget. The dashboard, speedometer and handlebars remain stock.

Performance

NCT went further than cosmetics. A handmade exhaust was fabricated and paired with a pipe from SC-Project for an improved sound signature and breathing. Braking was upgraded to a Magura pump with Brembo calipers for sharper stopping power. The wheels were fitted with Metzeler Karoo 3 tires for confident grip across surfaces. The original BMW boxer delivers 110 horsepower and 86 ft/lbs of torque through a 6-speed transmission, and with the chassis and rear end refinements, the Gelber Baron rides as purposefully as it looks.
