Description
Built on a new 2017 BMW R9T motorcycle, the Gelber Baron offers vintage looks with the punchy modern performance of BMW Motorrad boxer engines.
The Start
As usual, NCT Motorcycles began by finding a donor bike. A brand new BMW R9T was used with 1 kilometer on the dash. The modern motorcycle was stripped to its bare essentials and the engine was removed to expose the insides. One of the starting points of NCT was to powder coat the frame in black.
The Build
NCT decided to replace the rear end of the motorcycle despite being quite modern and comfortable. To give it its classic look, they created a new rear frame and powder coated everything in black. Sitting atop this new frame is a custom made handmade seat covered in a potent blue color scheme by a partner company. The fuel tank was replaced with an older BMW RS100RS tank painted in a garish yellow and decorated with black racing stripes on both sides. Electric and control bits are the original ones due to their high quality, but the turning signals have been replaced with new Motogadget ones to match the styling. The rear light is replaced with a full LED one and the headlight remains original but with a different color. Mirrors are also from Motogadget. Most of the dashboard remains original, including the speedometer and handlebars.
The Upgrades
Despite being a new bike, NCT decided to upgrade it even further to improve its performance. This is the true soul of NCT Motorcycles, going the extra mile for its clients. A new handmade exhaust was installed along with a new pipe from SC-Project. The stock chassis was maintained but the rear end is colored in a blue scheme to match the seat. A new break pump is installed from Magura with upgraded Brembo calipers. Fitted to the wheels are a pair of Metzeler Karoo 3 tires.
