BROAAP is an original mixed media engine artwork by Ed Turner Label, pairing a real half engine block with an oversized comic strip onomatopoeia bursting out of the exhaust.
The Artist
Ed Turner Label is a French artist known for taking mechanical parts out of their natural habitat and turning them into sculptural pop art wall pieces. His signature move is to combine authentic engine components with a hit of vintage comic strip lettering, borrowing the visual vocabulary of Roy Lichtenstein and 1960s pop and applying it to the world of cars and motorcycles. The result feels equally at home in a design studio, a collector's garage or a modern living room.
The Piece
BROAAP is built around one half of a real internal combustion engine, cut, cleaned and mounted as a sculptural centrepiece. From the exhaust bursts a large, glossy comic style word: BROAAP, the phonetic version of what a bike sounds like when you crack the throttle. The block itself is finished as raw industrial art, the lettering is executed with the polished, high gloss surface of collectable pop art. This is a signed, unique piece: a proper petrolhead trophy for anyone who wants motorsport on the wall without a poster.
