The Bugatti Baby II is a 75% scale, all-electric junior car developed by Hedley Studios (formerly The Little Car Company) with Bugatti, based on a full 3D scan of a 1924 Bugatti Type 35 French Grand Prix car. Officially licensed by Bugatti and hand-built to order, it is limited to 500 numbered units worldwide.

The Story

The story of the Bugatti Baby starts in 1926, when Ettore Bugatti and his son Jean built a half-scale Type 35 for Ettore's youngest son Roland, on his fourth birthday. What was meant as a private gift became an official Bugatti product, sold from Molsheim between 1927 and 1936. Nearly a century later, for Bugatti's 110th anniversary, The Little Car Company and Bugatti brought the concept back as the Baby II: same silhouette, modern electric powertrain, adult-usable size.

The Build

Each Baby II is hand-assembled from Bugatti-approved components, with a composite body drawn directly from the 1924 Type 35 scan. Buyers choose from three configurations. The Base car runs a 4 kW motor and Novice / Expert driving modes for a top speed of 45 kph. Step up to the Vitesse and the top-of-range Pur Sang, and power climbs to 10 kW with a Speed Key that unlocks up to 68 kph. Pur Sang adds a hand-formed aluminum body over a Type 35 style frame, echoing the original French Grand Prix cars. Because it is 75% scale rather than half-scale, adults fit comfortably, so the Baby II works equally well as a collectible and as a car actually driven on private property.
