Cluster Structure is a large scale automotive artwork by Ed Turner Label, replaying the childhood ritual of pulling a model car out of its plastic sprue and mounting the whole cluster as one graphic wall piece.
The Artist
Ed Turner Label is a French artist who turns car and motorcycle DNA into contemporary wall art. His pieces play with memory and everyday mechanical objects, from real engine parts to scale model sprues, elevated with pop art finishes and museum grade presentation. Cluster Structure sits in his ongoing series that celebrates the small, forgotten industrial rituals of car culture.
The Piece
The work stages the full parts cluster of a scale model car as it comes out of the box, before it is snipped and assembled. Every runner, gate and part is laid out in high relief on a large 155 cm x 88 cm panel, transforming a throwaway piece of injection moulding into a graphic, almost architectural composition. Hung above a desk, in an office or in a design collector's living room, it works as a piece of petrolhead art that reads at a distance and rewards a closer look at every part.
