The Devil custom Yamaha XV1100 by VV Motorcycles is a one-of-one transformation of a low-mileage 1996 classic, rebuilt across more than 30 individual modifications into a race-grade street machine that earns its name at every throttle input.
The Concept
VV Motorcycles, the Miami-based custom shop, chose a 1996 Yamaha XV1100 with just 14,000 miles on the clock: a bike with enough mechanical life left to justify a ground-up rebuild, but enough history to make the transformation meaningful. Their brief was total. The Devil was not a cosmetic update or a parts-bin refresh. It was a systematic re-engineering of every system on the motorcycle, from combustion to chassis to electronics, targeting ride dynamics and aesthetics in equal measure. The result is a machine VV Motorcycles describe simply as one you cannot get out of your mind once you have ridden it.
The Build
The engine received custom racing cams, custom rocker shafts, a single racing carburettor, a custom engine breather, NGK racing wires and coils relocated inside the frame, and racing spark plugs, with all synthetic racing fluids and a new oil filter. The front end was transplanted from a GSX1100: a full racing suspension assembly with new seals, oils, a carbon fibre stabiliser, and Tokico front brake calipers with ceramic racing pads. At the rear, a Hayabusa racing monoshock handles suspension, complemented by vented rear brakes and ceramic pads. Cognito rear sets, titanium custom rods, and custom chassis welding set the rider triangle. A custom gas tank with special internal liner and external supports feeds the engine. A new lightweight lithium-ion battery sits in a custom under-holder. Electricals were entirely rewired and relocated: new alternator and voltage regulator, a German-sourced starter with a precision pinion, custom mini fuses with indicator lights, a custom on/off combat helicopter red switch, and a hidden on/off switch. Cerakote ceramic matte paint in a high-temperature finish covers all exposed bodywork. Motogadget mirrors, a custom LED marine-grade front light, LED stop lights integrated into the custom subframe, and racing levers and grips complete a specification list that reads like a privateer race prep sheet.
