Product description
The Honda GL500 customized by Ugly Motors is a beautiful masterpiece that will make anyone turn their head when it passes. The bike is customized with the goal to make the bike stealthier, meaner and modern but without losing its classic vibe and Ugly Motors team succeeded in delivering that and much more. The bike is from 1982 and it has some ground-breaking characteristics and tech for the time. The Honda GL500 features Honda’s Pro-Link monoshock rear suspension with a 500cc liquid cooled V-Twin engine that is reliable in any situation. Also, electric- only start, modular wheels and dual CV-type carburetors were added to the bike making it Eco-friendly and more reliable.
Build
This bike was commissioned by a guy from the lower Silesian city in Poland and from the start, I knew it will be a great and simple one. The client knew what he wanted from the start, a black and pure bike with reliability (for a 40-year-old bike) and modern suspension and breaks. The R1 rear fork swap which is pretty stiff and works well in this frame. At the front, was adapted a GSXR 750 front with Tokico calipers. Those breaks and suspension changed the bike by a mile!
The new bike uses safe and ultra durable Metzelers ME888 and motogadget blinkers. The only challenge in this project was that the client wanted to make the bike a 2 seater. It's not obvious that all brat style bikes are made for 2 persons. To save the design from becoming too long at the tail section, the seat needed to be stretched and take care of every extra bit of mm and visual lightness. Then it was the time to design the footrest for the passenger which will be safe.
All in all, I can say that the bike is glorious construction. It works every single time and it's not that fragile to changing the air filter or exhaust.
