Product description

The Honda GL500 customized by Ugly Motors is a beautiful masterpiece that will make anyone turn their head when it passes. The bike is customized with the goal to make the bike meaner and modern but without losing its classic vibe and Ugly Motors team succeeded in delivering that and much more. The bike is from 1982 and it has some ground-breaking characteristics and tech for the time. The Honda GL500 features Honda’s Pro-Link monoshock rear suspension with a 500cc liquid cooled V-Twin engine that is reliable in any situation.  Also, electric- only start, modular wheels and dual CV-type carburetors were added to the bike making it Eco-friendly and more reliable.

Build

The vision for the bike was bold and the outcome was totally unknown.
This bike belonged to a friend who decided to put an offering on the Gods of Speed and asked Ugly Motors on this custom build. The rear frame is custom designed to smoothen the lines of rough GL frame. The friend who gave the bike was a very good wood craftsman so he knew it had to be a wooden seat! The plan was simple, match speed, modern, classic and not screw things up!
Core changes were Aprilia RS 125 front, R1 rear damper, huge K&N (car) filter, firestones, some wood and some stainless steel. The Biggest challenge was to make the rear of the bike fit perfectly with the new airbox+filter. It was a week of measuring.
I'm proud of the simplicity and fairly low budget of this build. It proves that design in its purest form can stand out even in such a used topic like GL/CX 500 Hondas.
