The Insky Linx personal aircraft is a single-seat, hybrid-electric flying machine built by Bulgarian aerospace startup InSky. While everyone waits for flying cars, the real answer looks like a motorcycle you fly.
The Vision
InSky has been developing cutting-edge aviation technology since 2016. Founder Assen Andonov built his first airplane at 13, started gliding at 15, skydiving at 17, and powered flight at 18, and had co-founded a company producing several types of aircraft by 23. He teamed up with Yordan Iskrev, a serial entrepreneur and industry expert in unmanned systems, and Patrice Meignan, a marketing veteran with more than 25 years in the auto sector. Their full-scale prototypes logged over 100 flight hours in mountainous and maritime environments, proving the concept is not theory.
What Makes It
When prepared for flight, the Linx measures 2.8 m wide by 3.2 m long and weighs only 73 kg. It can cruise up to 3000 m of altitude, hit 100 km/h, and carry a payload of 100 kg thanks to a hybrid propulsion system. The architecture is built around ducted fans backed up by electric motors, which is far more efficient at holding altitude than open-propeller designs and a lot safer around bystanders. The Linx flight computer handles most of the work, so the rider only issues the fundamental direction and climb commands. That radically shortens the pilot training curve and turns the Linx into a machine you can actually use, not a full aviation license project.
In the Air
Total flight time is around 30 + 5 min, enough for meaningful hops between points that would take an hour by car. The lightweight airframe, the hybrid powertrain, and the assisted flight controls together define a new category: a hybrid personal aircraft that is closer to a two-wheeler in usage than to a general aviation plane.
