Mil-Spec Auto Hummer H1 "Launch Edition"

The Mil-Spec Hummer H1 Launch Edition is a re-imagined AM General Hummer H1, hand-built by Mil-Spec Automotive in Wichita, Kansas, and turned into a fully luxurious off-road SUV. It is the first car ever released by the brand, launched in 2018.

The Story

Mil-Spec Automotive was founded with one goal: build the best truck on the planet. The team of Hummer specialists started from the war-proven HMMWV, prototyped a handful of builds, and turned them into the Launch Edition. The car was designed in a small studio outside Detroit, Michigan, then hand-assembled in Wichita, Kansas. Despite the original H1 being already mil-spec straight from the factory, the brand set out to re-envision the military giant as a luxury off-road experience.

Performance

Under the hood sits an MSA-tuned 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel that pushes 500 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque through an Allison transmission. The engine can be pushed further with stage 2 and stage 3 tuning packages on request. The iron giant hits 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 154 km/h. The engine is bolted onto a chassis remanufactured in-house by Hummer H1 specialists: each piece is stripped, re-assembled with new parts, and powder-coated for longevity. Inside, the original blank cabin becomes a minimal, functional space wrapped in aluminum and premium customizable materials. The central metal block that split driver and passengers is gone, replaced by an intelligent control interface. A tri-level insulation system keeps road noise low, while a Kevlar coating protects against the harshest elements. Optional long-travel suspension and 6-piston Wilwood brakes complete the package.
