R9T "STORM" BY FABMAN

The R9T Storm by FABMAN is a fully shrouded, aircraft-inspired custom BMW R nineT motorcycle, handcrafted entirely from aluminium and stainless steel. Every panel, lever, and lens was shaped by hand, creating a one-of-a-kind machine that looks like it was pulled from a stealth program and put on two wheels.

The Concept

FABMAN built the Storm around a single obsession: what if a BMW R9T were designed the way modern aircraft are? The answer is a fully enclosed silhouette where nothing is left exposed unless it serves the aerodynamic brief. The fairing eliminates turbulence, the integrated tank-subframe removes visible structure, and every wire, cable, and hydraulic line disappears inside the aluminium bodywork. The result reads less like a custom build and more like a skunkworks prototype.

What Makes It

Every modification on the Storm was fabricated by hand. The handcrafted aluminium clip-ons route all wiring and cables internally, leaving the bars completely clean. The clutch and front brake levers are custom aluminium billets. The indicator and tail light lenses are FABMAN-made. The foot pegs and all foot controls were reshaped from scratch, as was the leather seat. The hydraulic master cylinders are cable-controlled and tucked under the tank, out of sight. The rear brake master cylinder was modified to fit inside the fairing without compromising function. A 5-inch fan supplements engine cooling, and all electrical components are sealed and fed cold air from the headlight surround to maintain positive pressure and block heat ingress.

Performance

The 1200cc boxer engine is carried over from the R9T platform without internal modification, delivering 110 HP and 120 Nm of torque. With the aerodynamic full fairing reducing drag at speed, the Storm reaches a top speed of 200 km/h and dispatches 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The oil cooler was relocated behind the left foot peg and enclosed in an inlet scoop for cleaner airflow management. Suspension and geometry remain standard R9T, giving the Storm predictable, confidence-inspiring handling beneath its radical exterior.
