The Surf 917 LH is a hand-shaped Porsche 917 tribute surfboard by Racing & Emotion, built in Le Mans, France and inspired by the Martini-liveried 917 Long Tail driven by Gerard Larrousse and Vic Elford at the 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours.
The Story
Racing & Emotion is a Le Mans studio that reinterprets motorsport icons as functional art. The Surf 917 LH takes the Martini Porsche 917 LH livery, one of the most photographed racing cars of the 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours, and translates it onto a full-size surfboard: same colours, same racing stripes, same silhouette treatment, now shaped to ride a wave or to hang on the wall as a piece of collector craftsmanship.
The Design
Every board is designed, shaped and finished entirely by hand, with the same attention to detail Racing & Emotion brings to its motorsport chairs and objects. The PU core is wrapped in fiberglass and finished with polyester resin, a construction that keeps the board rideable while giving the graphic layers the depth needed for a display-grade piece. The 6'0" outline with a 20 1/4" width sits in classic shortboard territory, adaptable enough for real-world surfing.
