Surf Salzburg

The Surf Salzburg is a hand-shaped Porsche 917K tribute surfboard by Racing & Emotion, built in Le Mans, France and inspired by the red and white Salzburg-liveried 917K that gave Porsche its first ever overall win at the 1970 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Story

Racing & Emotion is a Le Mans studio that turns motorsport icons into functional art. The Surf Salzburg pays tribute to the Porsche 917K entered by Porsche Salzburg at the 1970 Le Mans 24 Hours, the car that finally delivered Porsche's long-awaited outright victory at the Sarthe. The signature red and white livery of that winning entry is reproduced on a full-size surfboard designed to ride or to display.

The Design

Each board is designed, shaped and painted entirely by hand. The PU core is wrapped in fiberglass and finished with polyester resin, a build chosen for real water use and for a display-grade surface. The 6'0" outline, 20 1/4" width and 2 1/2" thickness sit in versatile shortboard territory.
