The Suzuki GSX1200 Inazuma by Ugly Motors is a custom cafe racer built on one of the most capable inline-four platforms of the year 2000: the 1200cc oil-cooled Suzuki GSX1200. Ugly Motors kept the engine entirely stock and rethought everything around it, producing a machine that blends the GSX1200's raw power with a silhouette no production bike from any era has ever offered.

The Concept

Ugly Motors was drawn to the GSX1200 Inazuma for two reasons: the shape of the tank, and the power of the engine. The 1200cc oil-cooled unit pulls hard from any gear and reaches 200 km/h without drama, but the stock bike wore that performance in a forgettable package. Ugly Motors stripped the fairing, reworked the geometry, and rebuilt the tail and bodywork around curves that flow naturally from the tank to the rear, creating a visual continuity the original never had.

What Makes It

The most significant technical change is the front end. A custom RME triple clamp was fabricated and mounted with a custom triple clamp rod, raising the average speed capability of the steering geometry by improving handling precision at pace. The steering damper was upgraded to a Ducati 999 projector combined with a WP steering damper from the same model, giving the front end the high-speed stability the stock unit lacked. The fairing was replaced entirely with a unit sourced from a Honda CB750, whose lines complement the GSX1200 tank geometry in a way no aftermarket replacement could. The exhaust received a Spark slip-on muffler paired with a custom DB-Killer built by Ugly Motors. The K and N air filters created fuelling issues with the original carburetor jetting, so the main and secondary jets were re-sized to compensate, resolving the lean condition and restoring full throttle response.

Performance

The 1200cc oil-cooled inline-four engine is carried over from the Suzuki GSX1200 Inazuma entirely unmodified. Zero to 200 km/h arrives quickly; the Ugly Motors triple clamp and steering damper upgrade means the bike handles that speed with more precision than the original. The Spark slip-on improves the exhaust note without compromising output. The result is a machine that performs at the level of a 2000-era superbike with the visual identity of a one-off custom.
