TURBO S1 - HAZAN MOTORWORKS

The Turbo S1 by Hazan Motorworks is a fully street-legal custom motorcycle built on the Buell S1 Lightning platform, wrapping a turbocharged 1250cc engine, a bespoke frame, and hand-formed all-aluminium bodywork around lightweight magnesium Martini wheels.

The Concept

Max Hazan is one of the few builders whose work is regularly described as functional sculpture, and the Turbo S1 is a definitive example of why. Hazan Motorworks took the raw, aggressive Buell S1 Lightning as a starting point and rebuilt it around the workshop's signature vocabulary: exposed structure, hand-shaped aluminium bodywork, and a bespoke frame that reads as much like an art object as a chassis. The mandate was clear. Preserve street usability, push performance well past factory, and let every fabricated detail carry the workshop's hand.

The Build

The frame is entirely custom, wrapped in all-aluminium bodywork shaped by hand rather than pressed. The wheels are magnesium Martini units, chosen for their weight and their visual signature. Under that bodywork sits a heavily reworked 1250cc engine with aftermarket internals, boosted by a Garrett GT25R turbocharger running 18 PSI. Fuel and spark are managed to keep the boost predictable across the rev range. The bike is fully street-legal, with functional lights, turn signals, and a valid California title, so the finished machine can move between show floors and open canyon roads without compromise. Every element of the finish is calibrated to Hazan's signature: raw metal where it belongs, coated finishes where they earn their place.

Performance

The Garrett GT25R turbocharger takes the 1250cc twin to 195 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque at 18 PSI of boost, transforming the Buell platform from a naked street bike into a genuine turbocharged performance machine. The magnesium wheels and hand-shaped aluminium bodywork keep unsprung and overall weight low, so the power figure translates directly into acceleration and agility. The bespoke frame geometry is tuned to place the rider on top of the powerplant rather than behind it, and the fully compliant street registration means the Turbo S1 can be genuinely ridden rather than displayed.
