Alpine, renowned for its exceptional small sports cars, is embracing an electrified future with the introduction of the A290_β, a compact EV sports car. The A290_β has undergone significant enhancements to embody the true spirit of a sports car. Unlike many concept cars, Alpine has expressed that the A290_β is highly realistic. According to Raphael Linari, Alpine's Chief Designer, approximately 85 percent of the exterior design mirrors that of the production model, ensuring a promisingly authentic representation of the vehicle on the road.
Although specific performance specifications have not yet been disclosed, it is evident that the A290_β aims to capture the attention of the hot hatch market. The inclusion of twin spotlights at the front harkens back to Alpine's rallying heritage from the 1970s, while the utilization of forged carbon fiber for various components, such as the front splitter, side skirts, widened wheel arches, rear diffuser, and rear lights accent, reflects a commitment to weight reduction.
The distinctive square-shaped aero discs pay homage to the brand's racing heritage, while the "Alpine White" color scheme, complemented by touches of the French flag, further emphasizes its racing DNA. Inside the A290_β, a fusion of retrofuturism and traditional sports car elements awaits. An angular LED-adorned cabin harmonizes with bucket seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel, creating an immersive driving experience.
