Audi has significantly expanded its e-mobility repertoire by launching a high-end electric mountain bike (eMTB), co-developed with the renowned Italian e-bike and motorcycle manufacturer Fantic. This latest venture into e-mobility stems from Audi's historical prowess in off-road racing, reminiscent of their Quattro all-wheel-drive era which began in the 1980s. The new Audi eMTB, drawn from Fantic’s XEF 1.9 Factory model, offers a blend of advanced engineering and stylish design, echoing the aesthetic of Audi’s Dakar-winning RS Q e-tron.
Designed for both casual rides and challenging terrains, the Audi eMTB showcases a lightweight aluminum frame granting a relaxed posture, crucial for navigating complex environments effortlessly. It features a mixed wheel setup (29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear), promoting superior rollover capabilities and agile cornering. In addition to its robust full-suspension system, including an Öhlins RXF38 m.2 fork and TTX22m.2 rear shock, the bike is equipped with tubeless-ready Mavic wheels and Vittoria e-bike-rated tires which provide a plush ride across diverse landscapes.
The Audi eMTB is engineered with four electronic assist modes—ranging from Eco to Boost—to adapt to various riding demands and terrain types, supported by a Brose S-MAG motor delivering up to 90 Nm of torque. This setup is powered by a 720-Wh battery integrated beautifully into the frame, estimating a riding range of 12 to 90 miles depending on the mode and conditions. The bike also features a digital display for live tracking of assist level, battery status, and speed, thoughtfully designed for optimum rider convenience. Priced at $9,795, this limited edition eMTB from Audi delineates a commitment to luxurious, technologically advanced outdoor cycling experiences.
