What Is the BMW Concept Speedtop?
The Speedtop is a three-door interpretation of BMW's Touring lineage, following the acclaim generated by last year's Concept Skytop, which was limited to 50 units and sold immediately. Where the Skytop was an open-top roadster, the Speedtop adopts a fastback roofline that flows uninterrupted from the A-pillar to a discreet rear spoiler, creating the classic silhouette of a gran turismo. BMW positions it as "an exclusive reinterpretation of the classic Touring car," fusing the practicality of a shooting brake with the presence of a collector's automobile.
Design: Shark Nose, Gradient Paint, and Villa d'Este Elegance
The Speedtop's exterior design is built around a shark-nose front end with slim LED headlights and an illuminated kidney grille. A V-shaped bonnet line creates forward momentum even at a standstill. The gradient paint scheme transitions from "Floating Sunstone Maroon" at the front to "Floating Sundown Silver" at the rear, a treatment that reinforces the car's flowing silhouette. Two-tone 14-spoke custom wheels complete the exterior, referencing classic grand touring proportions with a distinctly contemporary execution.
Interior: Handmade Luxury and Bespoke Luggage
Inside, the Speedtop is a two-seater configured around driver and passenger rather than rear occupants. The handmade interior blends "Sundown Maroon" leather with "Moonstone White" accents on the seats, with brogue-style perforations adding a bespoke tailoring reference. Atmospheric lighting is built into the headliner, connecting interior ambience to the exterior color scheme. The luggage compartment is divided into sections and illuminated by a light beam, with leather straps designed to secure bespoke Schedoni bags made exclusively for this model. Every detail serves the purpose of a grand touring car built for long-distance weekend journeys.
How Many BMW Concept Speedtops Will Be Made?
BMW will produce exactly 70 units. Powered by the most powerful V8 currently in BMW's lineup, the Speedtop is described as a homage to the art of driving for "collectors and connoisseurs." No list price has been publicly announced, but given the Skytop's reception and this car's more exclusive production run, demand among BMW enthusiasts and luxury collectors is expected to exceed supply significantly.
