Carlex Design X-Class 6x6 - The More The Better

Carlex Design X-Class 6x6 - The More The Better - TheArsenale

Carlex Design X-Class took the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup and turned it into a monster six wheel machine called the EXY 6x6, a carbon fiber widebody beast with three axles and serious off-road intent. This Carlex Design X-Class 6x6 is far more than a pickup with an extra pair of wheels, it is a fully reengineered concept that the Polish tuning house planned to put into limited production.

What is the Carlex Design X-Class 6x6?

Carlex Design decided to create a monster six wheel variant of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class called the EXY 6x6. Rather than a simple cosmetic kit, the concept reworks the entire rear of the truck, with the Polish company extending the chassis and adding mounts for a third axle to create one of the most extreme X-Class builds ever shown.

What engines power the EXY 6x6?

This beast is offered with a 2.0-liter turbo four gasoline engine and a trio of diesels ranging up to a 3.0-liter V6 good for 255 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Carlex was not very open with the technical details, but the six wheel layout required a new transfer case plus an extra differential and driveshaft to feed the added axle and two wheels. The EXY 6x6 Concept gains an extended loading platform, three axles, off-road tires and a brand new rear end.

Will the Carlex X-Class 6x6 reach production?

This concept by Carlex Design was only meant to remain a concept for a short while, as the company had plans to bring the car into reality and release it. For anyone tracking the Carlex Design X-Class and its 6x6 price, the EXY remains one of the wildest interpretations of the Mercedes pickup ever created.
