DISCOVER THE ELEGANCE AND EXPLORATION OF THE MAGELLANO 60 - TheArsenale

The Azimut Magellano 60 is a long-range explorer yacht that redefines what a 60-foot motorboat can do. Part of Azimut's celebrated Magellano line, this boat pairs a semi-planing Dual Mode Hull with an explorer spirit, offering remarkable range, considered design by Ken Freivokh, and luxurious accommodation across three cabins. For those who want to go further, stay longer, and arrive in style, the Magellano 60 sets a high benchmark in the 18-metre cruising market.

Performance and Range

Twin MAN i6 730 HP (536 kW) engines power the Magellano 60 to a maximum speed of 26 knots, while the Dual Mode semi-planing hull delivers exceptional fuel economy at cruising speeds. At 10 knots, the yacht achieves a range of approximately 600 miles, while even at full throttle the range extends to around 300 miles. The 3,650-litre fuel capacity and 750-litre freshwater tank make extended offshore passages fully self-sufficient.

Key dimensions: overall length 18.47 m (60 ft 7 in), maximum beam 5.15 m (16 ft 11 in), full-load draft 1.37 m (4 ft 6 in), displacement at full load 34.92 tonnes. Full technical specifications are available on the official Azimut Yachts website.

The Dual Mode Hull Explained

The Dual Mode Hull is the technical heart of the Magellano 60. At displacement speeds it operates with the efficiency of a full-displacement hull, reducing fuel burn and wave wash. As speed increases it transitions to semi-planing mode, allowing the boat to reach speeds that a pure displacement hull could never achieve. The result is a craft that is equally comfortable on a quiet canal passage or a fast coastal run, a rare combination in this size range. Yachting Magazine's review provides an excellent independent assessment of the hull's real-world behaviour.

Interior: The Full-Beam Owner's Suite

Below decks, the Magellano 60 accommodates up to 6 guests across three cabins, with separate crew quarters. The full-beam Owner's Suite amidships stands out for its generous proportions and carefully curated palette of materials, including Viennese straw furnishings and softly textured headboard fabrics that create a warm, residential atmosphere rather than a utilitarian marine environment. A VIP cabin in the bow and a guest cabin complete the sleeping arrangement, all with en-suite facilities.
