FERRARI RETURNS TO LE MANS WITH 499LE HYPERCAR - TheArsenale

For the first time in fifty years, Ferrari is making a comeback to Le Mans' top tier. The 499P, which is named after the successful sports prototypes of the 1960s and 1970s, the 250P and 330P, will be the Italian brand's entry in the 2023 LMDh class.

The 499P is powered by a twin-turbo V6 that was adapted from the 296GTB road vehicle and is mounted on an entirely new carbon fiber monocoque chassis. The V6 and an electric motor at the front axle combine to create an all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of up to 670 horsepower.

The 900v battery that powers the electric motor is recharged during braking regeneratively. On March 17, 2023, the 499P will compete for the first time in the World Endurance Championship.
