GENESIS TACKLES THE ELEMENTS WITH THE GV60 MOUNTAIN INTERVENTION VEHICLE
The Genesis GV60 Mountain Intervention Vehicle is one of the most purposeful electric vehicle concepts to emerge from the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos: a rescue-ready reimagining of the production GV60, fitted with terrain-adaptive snow tracks, carbon-fiber fender flares, a heavy-duty roof rack, a rear-mounted winch, medical equipment, and a vehicle-to-load system that can power field devices from its battery pack. With 483 hp in Boost Mode and 516 lb-ft of torque, this is not a show car that merely looks capable: it is engineered to operate in conditions where roads cease to exist.
Why a Luxury Brand Built a Mountain Rescue Vehicle
The GV60 MIV Concept is the third consecutive concept Genesis has unveiled at Davos, following the Genesis X Concept in 2023 and the Genesis X Show Speedium in 2024. The choice of venue is deliberate: the World Economic Forum brings together governments, NGOs, and businesses to address global challenges, and Genesis is using its platform to argue that luxury automotive engineering can serve humanitarian ends. Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke described the vehicle as evidence of Genesis's commitment to "safe, well-designed luxury vehicles" that also demonstrate compassion. As Genesis's official newsroom confirmed, the MIV was inspired by military small unit support vehicles (SUSVs) and is designed for rescue operations in terrain where conventional emergency vehicles cannot operate.
Technical Modifications: Snow Tracks, V2L, and Emergency Equipment
The production GV60's wheel and tyre setup is replaced with flexible snow tracks, each independently driven by the car's dual electric motors. Ground clearance, traction, and load distribution are dramatically improved compared to even the best winter tyres, making the MIV capable of traversing deep powder and icy mountain trails. The carbon-fiber fender flares protect the body from debris and reduce impact risk for bystanders. The custom roof rack adds storage for rescue equipment including drones, communication systems, and medical supplies. The rear hatch features modular attachment points so teams can configure the load-out for different mission types. The vehicle-to-load (V2L) function allows the GV60's battery to supply power to medical devices, communication equipment, or field lighting without requiring an external generator. According to Green Car Reports, Genesis is also updating the production GV60 with an 84-kWh battery and refreshed styling for the 2026 model year.
Interior: Sports Seats and a Rescue-Ready Workspace
Inside the MIV, Genesis retains the ergonomic quality that defines the standard GV60 but repurposes it for professional use. Sports seats with additional lateral support replace the standard units, reducing occupant fatigue during demanding mountain operations. The centre console and storage areas are adapted to accommodate medical supplies, communication devices, and emergency equipment within easy reach. The OLED instrument cluster and dual-screen setup from the production car remain, complemented by mission-specific readouts for track status, battery reserve, and V2L output.
