Gumball 3000 : 20 Years on The Road Launch At TheArsenale

Gumball 3000 : 20 Years on The Road Launch At TheArsenale - TheArsenale

Gumball 3000 is one of the most exhilarating motor rallies on the planet, an annual supercar parade that has been crossing continents, turning heads and setting cultural agendas since Maximillion Cooper launched the first edition in 1999. Every year, around one million spectators line the route in person, while a further 100 million households follow the action through TV and online broadcasts across 60 countries. TheArsenale has been part of this world for years, attending multiple editions at the invitation of Mr. Cooper himself. In 2019, that relationship deepened: Gumball 3000 chose our Miami showroom as the North American launch venue for their landmark anniversary book.

Gumball 3000: 20 Years on The Road - The Book

Published by German luxury publisher teNeues to mark the rally's 20th anniversary, "Gumball 3000: 20 Years on The Road" is the definitive visual record of the event's history. It gathers 1,500 photographs, 1,250 in colour and 250 in black and white, the vast majority of which had never been seen publicly before publication. These are not press shots or staged images. They are the raw document of two decades of supercar excess, celebrity madness and genuine road adventure spanning routes from London to Las Vegas, Tokyo and beyond.

The 20th edition that the book celebrates ran from London to Tokyo in August 2018, taking participants through multiple countries and continents. The book captures both the spectacle and the subculture: insider accounts from long-standing participants, behind-the-scenes moments from the eye-popping parties that punctuate each rally, and the quieter human stories that accumulate over 20 years of shared road time.

The Launch at TheArsenale Miami

The book launch took place at TheArsenale's Miami showroom at 4141 NE 2nd Avenue in the Miami Design District. For the event, the space became a pop-up home for the full Gumball 3000 merchandise universe: alongside the book itself, a complete range of Gumball goodies was available to purchase in person. The Miami Design District was a fitting setting. Like the rally itself, the neighbourhood sits at the intersection of high performance, high design and cultural ambition.

If you were not there in person, the full Gumball 3000 collection followed its Miami debut with online availability. The book is also documented by teNeues, the publisher behind the project, and reviewed in detail by Maxim.

The Gumball 3000 Rally: What Makes It Different

The Gumball 3000 is not a racing series in any conventional sense. It is a rolling cultural event: part supercar rally, part art happening, part endurance test of human character under the pressure of moving fast across unfamiliar territories. Since 1999, it has attracted an eclectic cast that mixes professional racing drivers, actors, musicians, entrepreneurs and committed amateur petrolheads. The shared quality is a passion for cars and a willingness to commit fully to the experience.

The route changes every year, which keeps the event perpetually fresh. Past editions have run from San Francisco to Miami, from Scandinavia to Morocco, and across Japan. Each stops at cities where the convoy turns into a street party, with hundreds of thousands of spectators turning out for a glimpse of the machines and the people inside them.

TheArsenale and the Gumball 3000 Universe

TheArsenale has always shared the Gumball spirit: a belief that the most interesting vehicles and the most interesting people belong in the same room. Our TheArsenale Gallery brings that philosophy indoors, presenting art and vehicles as part of the same cultural conversation. The TheArsenale Bible extends it into print, documenting the world of mobility design with the same editorial seriousness that the Gumball 3000 anniversary book applies to the rally. And our curated car selection reflects the same taste for machines that carry cultural weight, not just mechanical performance.
