MODELLISTA'S OVERLAND VISION CONCEPT TRANSFORMS TOYOTA'S LAND CRUISER

MODELLISTA'S OVERLAND VISION CONCEPT TRANSFORMS TOYOTA'S LAND CRUISER

The Modellista Overland Vision Concept is Toyota's most extreme interpretation of the new Land Cruiser, debuted at SEMA 2024 in Las Vegas. Built by Modellista, Toyota's official in-house customisation division, the concept transforms the 2025 Land Cruiser into a cyberpunk-inspired expedition machine capable of tackling terrain far beyond what a standard SUV can handle.

Exterior: Full Body Armour and Green LED Accents

The design language is unapologetically aggressive. Modellista applied a complete suite of custom bodywork over the 2025 Land Cruiser's platform, including armour cladding on door panels and wheel arches, custom rock sliders, bespoke headlight brush guards and bush wires. A custom front bumper integrates a skid plate, winch and tow points, while a bespoke rear bumper rounds out the protective package. Functional cargo boxes are mounted at every available exterior surface, including above the rear windows, dramatically expanding storage for extended overland expeditions. The lighting package features a full-width light bar along the hood above the Toyota grille, with vivid green LED accents at the front and rear that give the concept its unmistakable cyberpunk identity. A roof ladder enables easy access to equipment stowed above.

What Powertrain Does the Land Cruiser Overland Vision Use?

Modellista focused exclusively on exterior and utility enhancements, leaving the standard Land Cruiser powertrain untouched. The base 2025 Land Cruiser delivers 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged inline-four paired with two electric motors. Drive goes to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The production Land Cruiser accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds and can tow up to 6,000 lb, providing a capable and modern platform beneath the concept's theatrical exterior. According to Robb Report's SEMA 2024 coverage, Modellista designed the concept specifically around current overlanding trends in the United States, where the market for heavily customised off-roaders has grown considerably.

SEMA 2024 Reception and Production Potential

Toyota's SEMA 2024 display centred on the Overland Vision alongside other custom Land Cruiser builds, using the show as a market research exercise. Modellista stated it would evaluate audience response before committing to a U.S. production variant, making customer and enthusiast reaction at SEMA directly influential on the concept's future. As Top Speed noted in their SEMA coverage, the Overland Vision represents Modellista's most ambitious effort to enter the competitive North American aftermarket scene, where brands like Icon and TLC specialise in exactly this kind of maximalist, purpose-built off-road Toyota customisation.
