THE PU+RA: LANCIA'S ELECTRIC REVIVAL OF THE STRATOS
The Lancia Pu+Ra HPE is an all-electric concept car that revives the spirit of the iconic Lancia Stratos through a bold, geometry-led design language Lancia calls "pure and radical." Unveiled on 15 April 2023, it draws directly from Marcello Gandini's original Stratos wedge while projecting Lancia's electric future: a projected range of over 700 km, energy consumption below 10 kWh per 100 km, and a charging time of around 10 minutes.
Design rooted in Lancia heritage
The Pu+Ra's proportions are immediately recognisable to anyone who knows the original Stratos. The steep rear trunk lid, circular LED taillights, and exaggerated front fender flares all reference the 1970s rally icon. At the front, a three-pointed Y-shaped fascia reinterprets Lancia's signature grille motif, carrying the same triangular pattern through to the wheel design. The paint, a shade called Progressive Green, is a contemporary reworking of the Flaminia's historic Azzurro Vincennes. The 2+2 cabin configuration and the wraparound rear window complete a silhouette that feels simultaneously nostalgic and genuinely new.

Interior: Cassina collaboration and Italian domesticity
The cabin was designed with Italian furniture house Cassina, whose Maralunga armchair by Vico Magistretti inspired the seat shapes. Front and rear passengers each have a "tea table" extending from the door trim, a deliberate reference to the Italian home rather than a conventional automotive interior. All materials are sustainable, in line with the concept's environmental positioning. The result is an interior that positions the Pu+Ra as a design object as much as a performance machine.

What Pu+Ra means for Lancia's future
The concept remains a design study without confirmed production plans, but its influence is already tangible. According to Carscoops' report on the Pu+Ra reveal, the design language introduced here will inform three upcoming production models: the new Ypsilon (2024), the Gamma flagship (2026), and the revived Delta (2028). The official Lancia page for the Pu+Ra HPE confirms the brand's intent to return as a fully electric, design-led marque by 2028. As Goodwood Road and Racing noted, the Pu+Ra is essentially a manifesto in metal.
