THE ROADSTER 400 BY ITALJET IS A STYLISH URBAN RIDER WITH ATTITUDE

The Italjet Roadster 400 is a maxi-scooter that refuses to play by the usual rules. Unveiled at EICMA 2025, it pairs a 394 cc single-cylinder engine with Italjet's signature exposed tubular steel trellis frame and the brand's innovative DLAS (Dynamic Linkage Articulated Steering) system, producing a machine that looks like a custom build and rides like a precision instrument. At a guide price of around 7,800 euros, it targets urban riders who demand style as seriously as they demand substance.

Italjet Roadster 400 Specs and Performance

The Roadster 400 is powered by a 394 cc single-cylinder motor delivering 41.6 hp at 7,500 rpm and 30.4 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, paired with a twist-and-go CVT gearbox. The setup should comply with A2 licence requirements in Europe, making it accessible to newer riders. Suspension is where the design really stands out: a linkage-actuated leading arm at the front (90 mm travel) and a linkage-actuated trailing arm at the rear (120 mm travel) leave the working components fully exposed, creating a look closer to a custom streetfighter than a conventional scooter. Wet weight is a claimed 151 kg without fuel.

Design: An Italian Scooter That Breaks the Mold

What separates the Roadster 400 from most maxi-scooters is its refusal to hide its engineering. The front shock sits between the rider's legs, the rear shock is mounted behind the seat, and the exposed frame acts as a visual centrepiece rather than something to be covered up. Full LED lighting, a circular TFT display, two 280 mm front discs with ABS, traction control, and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Scooter tyres round out the package. As New Atlas described at EICMA 2025, the Roadster 400 is a "maximalist masterpiece" that pushes the format in a new direction.

Who Is the Italjet Roadster 400 For?

The Roadster 400 targets urban commuters and lifestyle riders who find conventional scooters too anonymous and mainstream middleweights too demanding. Its upright riding position, 790 mm seat height, and CVT gearbox make it approachable for city use, while its distinctive aesthetics and Italian provenance make it a genuine talking point. A 24-month warranty and 9,000-mile service intervals support everyday ownership. According to Motorcycle News, the Roadster redefines what a retro-styled scooter can be in 2025. The Italjet Roadster 400 is a rare combination of accessibility and individuality.
