TRANSFORMING HIGH-SPEED RAIL: A LOOK AT THE FRANCE'S TGV VISIONARY INTERIORS

In a groundbreaking collaboration between French industrial designers AREP and Japanese design studio Nendo, the InOui TGV is set to redefine the high-speed rail experience. This ambitious project for SNCF (France's national railway company) embraces a design ethos centered on the concept of "flow," invoking the natural fluidity of rivers to inspire every curve, texture, and color of the train. From the sleek livery to the bold interior elements, the train aims to combine functionality and beauty, creating an environment unlike any other mode of transport. The designers also focused on sustainability, with 97% of the materials used being recyclable, ensuring the design vision matches a commitment to low-carbon innovation.

Every element of the InOui TGV’s interiors speaks to comfort, accessibility, and a dynamic relationship with light and space. With soothing gradients that transition from darker tones near the floor to brighter hues toward the ceiling, passengers are greeted with an uplifting ambiance enhanced by natural light. The vision of water influencing sky is vividly reflected in the bistro car, where flowing banquette shapes and distinct textures bring a sense of place. The train also boasts striking yellow and red accents in seating components, ensuring functionality is matched with vibrancy. The two-level bistro car, featuring a lower-level self-service restaurant and an upper lounge with 28 communal seats, exemplifies a bold reimagining of dining on the go.

This groundbreaking design marries SNCF’s vision for the future of rail with a focus on creating a serene yet bold travel experience. Set to begin service in 2026, the InOui TGV promises to transform not only France’s transportation but also set a global benchmark for high-speed rail innovation.
