Volkswagen I.D. Buggy Concept

Volkswagen I.D. Buggy Concept - TheArsenale

Volkswagen's iconic silhouette of the Bettle was penned by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche in 1938. Ever since, it became the people's car (which is what Volkswagen stands for). But the car did not only have a memorable design, it also was a very simple and reliable platform, which lead Bruce Meyers to create a fiberglass body kit in 1964 that would go on top of a VW Beetle of the time.

VW decided to have their own go at this concept, creating the I.D. Buggy Concept. Built on VW'S MEB electric platform, this all new Buggy uses an electric motor with 201hp and 228 lb-ft of torque. It's 62 kWh battery is good for 250 kilometers. Being an all-terrain machine, its interior has been constructed with waterproof materials to keep it safe from the elements. Despite its small size, the electric motors give it enough space to comfortably carry four people and their picnic bag sized luggages.

We will see the I.D. Buggy Concept presented at this year's 2019 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where we can take a closer look at its exterior and interior.
