Mil-Spec Automotive M1-R

The Hummer M1, officially the Mil-Spec Automotive M1-R, is the latest coachbuilt reinterpretation of the legendary Hummer H1, hand-built by Mil-Spec Automotive into a bespoke luxury off-road machine. It pushes the H1 platform further than any Mil-Spec build before it, with an optional powertrain over 800 hp.

The Story

Mil-Spec Automotive has spent years transforming the AM General Hummer H1 into hand-built, ultra-luxury off-roaders. The M1-R is the current flagship: it keeps the original Humvee silhouette and utilitarian charm (broad dashboard, mile-wide center console) while replacing every plastic part with machined components and swathing the cabin in Nappa leather. Marine-grade audio, dual-zone climate, and stainless plus powder-coated hardware complete the transformation from military service vehicle to bespoke masterpiece.

Performance

Under the hood sits a specially built 6.6-liter Duramax turbocharged diesel V8 producing 500 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque as standard, with an optional tune that pushes past 800 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft. Power runs through an Allison 1000 T6 automatic transmission. The chassis rides on Rod Hall long-travel racing suspension, with optional six-piston Wilwood brakes for stopping power that matches the output. Outside, the M1-R rolls on 20-inch Black Rhino wheels wrapped in off-road tires, wears full LED lighting, and can be specified in the signature Competition Yellow or a wide palette of colors. Auxiliary lighting, tubular accessories, and winches round out a build sheet built for personalization.
