Renault R29 F1 Rolling Chassis - Memorabilia

This F1 rolling chassis is a genuine Renault R29 show car, built by the Renault F1 factory around a Benetton B201 tub with real R29 bodywork, sponsor livery, OZ Racing wheels and a race-worn Fernando Alonso suit included with the sale.

The Story

The Renault R29 was Renault's F1 entry for the 2009 season, raced by Fernando Alonso, Nelson Piquet Jr and Romain Grosjean. Once the season was over, Renault repurposed the platform: a Benetton B201 chassis with genuine Grand Prix history was re-clothed in R29 panels, painted in full 2009 livery and set up as a factory show car. The result is a working display piece with real F1 DNA on both sides of the build, Benetton tub underneath and R29 skin on top.

Performance

The R29 as raced was powered by a 2.4-liter V8 engine producing more than 750 hp at 18,000 rpm, mated to a seven-speed carbon-titanium gearbox. This example is sold as a rolling chassis, so the drivetrain is presented for display rather than active running. It rolls on original OZ Racing wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza slicks, and the cockpit carries a moulded seat, harness brackets and a genuine carbon-fibre steering wheel pulled from a raced R29.
