According to Hagerty, chassis 550-0079 was first entered by Rampinelli in the Saint-Ursanne-Les Rangiers hillclimb in June 1956 before passing through several Swiss racing hands.
How was the Spyder modified over the years?
It was upgraded at some point to help it stay competitive, receiving an alloy Porsche RS60 body and a new factory engine in place of its original four-cam flat-four. These period modifications were a common way to keep a privateer race car at the front of the grid, and they form part of the car's documented competition story.

Although it undoubtedly shows signs of age, it was, after all, discovered in a barn, its distinguished history makes it an excellent candidate for a thorough restoration.
