When a racing team funded by an energy drink maker and one of the world's most premier luxury performance Aston Martin come together on a project the result can be pretty amazing.
Aston Martin and Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing unveiled lately the result of a joint venture to create the world's latest and greatest hypercar. It's been a tremendous challenge to make the interior packaging work says Matt Hill, Creative Director of Interiors. Aston Martin says the design may still change before it reaches owners, but it's about 95 percent complete. Performance comes from the 6.5-litre V12 engine developed with Cosworth.
Starkly different from a traditional hybrid system, the V12 is torque-enhanced during take-off and uses the electric motor for a power boost. There’s not one steel component in Valkyrie’s structure, it is all carbon-fiber. The iconic creation will supply a naturally-aspirated V12 specifically to a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. As for the power this outrageous beast clocks out at 1.130hp on tap.
All that power, exceptionally lightweight. The unique underbody aerodynamics bring a number of advantages. Aston Martin says the car develops more than 1.8 tons of downforce at high speed, so the system clearly works, but it also makes for a fascinating profile.
