Debuting in the BMW Vision Driving Experience prototype during a high-performance test at the Spartanburg facility, the "Heart of Joy" showcases efficiency gains of up to 25%, cementing BMW's commitment to sustainability and innovation.
At the heart of this transformation is the "Heart of Joy" control unit coupled with BMW's Dynamic Performance Control software, both entirely developed in-house. By processing information with millisecond-level precision, the system coordinates all vital driving dynamics functions, including acceleration, braking, cornering, and energy recuperation, to create a harmonious and highly intuitive experience. With an extraordinary 18,000 Nm of torque at its disposal during prototype testing, BMW has ensured that its vehicles will deliver both raw power and smooth performance for everyday use. Moreover, energy recuperation under braking reduces reliance on traditional friction brakes in everyday driving, significantly extending efficiency and range.
