Remember the jet age? The whole world had its eyes pointed towards the space race, to see who would be the first to conquer the vast emptiness of the space surrounding us. The world's biggest powers invested in becoming pioneers in this field.
Nowadays, we have taken giant leaps and are already planning on creating habitable environments in neighboring space entities. However, we have never seen something like this. Conceptualized by Eugeni Quitllet, the GalaXsea project is a space floating hotel that will allow people to spend their time among the stars. It is a huge sail boat of sorts and it uses solar light sails that use radiation pressure by the sun to propel objects. Inspired from his place of birth near the Mediterranean sea, the GalaXsea project takes the picturesque views of Eugeni's home and translates them to galactic surroundings. This concept is imagined to become a reality using 3D printing that will mine materials out of asteroids.
Imagine waking up in the morning with a panoramic view of the entire space in front of you as you weightlessly float around in your bedroom. As much as we would love to experience this, it will take a few good years to turn this into a reality.
