The Bolide 80 is a 24.9-meter carbon-fiber yacht that its makers call a hyper muscle yacht, and it has the numbers to back up the title. After setting sail from Pisa for sea trials, the Bolide 80 stunned observers by hitting sprint speeds of roughly 73 knots while holding a comfortable 55-knot cruise, making it one of the fastest yachts ever built.

How fast is the Bolide 80 and what powers it?

Built in collaboration between Bolide Yachts, Victory Design and Technology, and Ranieri and Tonissi, the Bolide 80 is constructed entirely from carbon composite at the Seven Stars facility in Pisa, Italy. Power comes from triple MAN 12V 2000 engines producing around 2,000 horsepower each, for roughly 6,000 horsepower in total. According to Boat International, the all-carbon structure and multi-stepped planing hull are what let it generate so little drag at such extreme speeds.

What is the Bolide 80 like to use?

For all its speed, the Bolide 80 is genuinely livable. It offers a twin-cabin or triple-cabin layout, a range of hull colors, a retractable automated T-Top, and a carbon fiber wing cockpit that deploys at the push of a button. As Robb Report reported from its sea trials, the yacht exceeded its design targets while also proving notably efficient for a boat of its performance.
