ICON 4x4, a renowned Californian custom shop celebrated for its pristine restomod SUVs, has unveiled its first fully-electric creation: the EV Bronco. Known for breathing new life into vintage vehicles like the 1964 Toyota Land Cruiser and 1975 Jeep Cherokee, ICON is now venturing into the world of full electrification while staying true to its heritage of unparalleled craftsmanship. This cutting-edge project, which took 18 months and over 5,000 hours of engineering, reimagines the classic Ford Bronco as a high-performance electric SUV. By partnering with Austin-based Moment Motor Company, ICON developed an electric drivetrain that flawlessly integrates into their award-winning chassis design, creating a seamless union of modern technology and vintage aesthetics.
Under the hood, the EV Bronco packs a 105kWh battery with a 400V electrical architecture, delivering approximately 500 horsepower. This robust setup propels the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, giving it blistering performance on and off-road. To match its immense power, ICON has equipped the vehicle with full-time four-wheel drive, enhanced suspension, steering, and brakes, and rugged off-road tires. Drivers can toggle between three driving modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport—to suit their needs across a variety of terrains, while the battery offers a range of 175-200 miles. Charging is convenient, thanks to a 6.6kW onboard charger as well as CCS fast-charging capability, enabling 20-80% recharge in under an hour.
The EV Bronco also impresses with its design and craftsmanship. Staying true to its vintage roots, ICON delivers a cabin that exudes refined nostalgia. The inaugural ‘Blue Star’ model features a blue and white interior, bespoke EV-specific gauges, and contemporary comforts like air conditioning and a modern audio system, all seamlessly integrated into the retro Bronco styling. With sustainability and adventure firmly in mind, this one-of-a-kind EV sets the stage for future electrified creations from ICON 4x4.
