ICON 4x4's EV Bronco is the California-based restomod studio's first fully electric vehicle, and it signals a new chapter for custom off-road builds. After 18 months of development and more than 5,000 hours of engineering, ICON reimagined the classic Ford Bronco as a high-performance electric SUV priced from $449,000. The project was completed in partnership with Austin-based Moment Motor Company, whose electric drivetrain integrates seamlessly into ICON's award-winning chassis to create a union of modern technology and vintage aesthetics.
What Is the ICON 4x4 EV Bronco?
ICON 4x4, renowned for restomod interpretations of vehicles like the 1964 Toyota Land Cruiser and 1975 Jeep Cherokee, has ventured into full electrification while staying true to its heritage of unparalleled craftsmanship. The EV Bronco takes a vintage Ford Bronco body and pairs it with a purpose-built electric drivetrain, preserving the original silhouette while delivering performance figures that rival modern sports cars.
Performance and Specifications
Under the body, the EV Bronco packs a 105 kWh battery with a 400V electrical architecture, delivering approximately 500 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. This robust setup propels the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, on par with many dedicated sports cars. To match its power, ICON equipped the vehicle with full-time four-wheel drive, Currie axles, an adjustable Reiger suspension, enhanced steering, and rugged off-road tires. Three driving modes, Eco, Normal, and Sport, allow the driver to adapt to any terrain, while the battery provides a range of 175 to 200 miles. Charging is handled by a 6.6 kW onboard charger and CCS fast-charging capability, enabling a 20 to 80 percent recharge in under an hour. According to Robb Report, the driving experience balances classic Bronco character with the immediacy of electric torque. Gear Junkie described the prototype as one of the most compelling electric restomod builds tested to date.
Design and Craftsmanship
The EV Bronco stays true to its vintage roots in the cabin, delivering refined nostalgia. The inaugural Blue Star model features a blue and white interior, bespoke EV-specific gauges, and contemporary comforts including air conditioning and a modern audio system, all integrated into the retro Bronco styling without visual compromise. Only 10 units will be produced, each built to the individual specification of its buyer in direct collaboration with ICON founder Jonathan Ward.
