KLEIN VISION’S AIRCAR GEARS UP FOR A FLYING REVOLUTION
The Klein Vision AirCar is a production-ready flying car that transforms from a sports car into a certified aircraft at the touch of a button. Built by Slovak company Klein Vision, the AirCar has completed over 500 takeoffs and landings and more than 170 flight hours, earning a Certificate of Airworthiness from the Slovak Transport Authority in 2022. With EASA Part 23/CS-23 certification targeted by late 2025 and customer deliveries expected in early 2026, the AirCar is closer to market than any comparable personal flying vehicle.
What Is the Klein Vision AirCar?
The AirCar is a dual-mode vehicle: on the ground it performs as a sleek sports car, and in the air it cruises at up to 135 knots (155 mph) with a range of around 1,000 km (620 miles). In car mode, it can reach 200 km/h (124 mph) on the road. The latest production prototype, the fifth-generation model unveiled at the 2025 Living Legends of Aviation Gala in Beverly Hills, is built around a fully composite structure and a 300-horsepower engine. Wings deploy and retract automatically, and the transition between modes takes under three minutes.
How Does the AirCar Work?
The AirCar uses a fixed-wing design with retractable wings stored along the fuselage when driving. A single button triggers the deployment sequence, which stows the tail surfaces and extends the wings for flight. The cockpit is designed around European aviation standards, and the aircraft meets EASA airworthiness requirements, meaning pilots need a standard pilot's license to fly it. Klein Vision is targeting markets where personal aviation and road transport overlap, from inter-city commuting to private weekend travel where airports and roads can both serve as starting points.
What Versions Are Planned?
Beyond the standard two-seat AirCar, Klein Vision has announced plans for three- and four-seat variants, twin-engine configurations for extended range, and amphibious versions capable of water landings. The production AirCar will start at around $800,000. Though that positions it firmly in luxury territory, it is considerably less than a comparable private aircraft combined with a sports car, and it eliminates the need for separate vehicles entirely.
