NEW ERA IN LOGISTICS: INDUSTRY’S FIRST AUTONOMOUS TRUCKS - TheArsenale

INCEPTIO Technology's XUANYUAN autonomous truck system marks a genuine inflection point in logistics: the world's first purpose-built autonomous driving platform for line-haul heavy trucks, now operating commercially across China's national highway network. By combining automotive-grade LiDAR, radar, and cameras in a 360-degree fusion architecture with a fully redundant control-by-wire chassis, INCEPTIO has produced a system that can handle the most demanding long-haul routes without a human at the wheel.

What Is the XUANYUAN System?

The XUANYUAN autonomous driving system, developed by Shanghai-based INCEPTIO Technology, integrates three sensor modalities: LiDAR for precise spatial mapping, radar for all-weather object detection, and high-resolution cameras for lane marking and sign recognition. The 360-degree sensor fusion gives the truck a comprehensive, real-time picture of its environment at all times.

The system is engineered for the reliability demands of commercial freight: INCEPTIO guarantees 1.5 million km durability across the sensor and compute stack, a standard derived from automotive-grade testing protocols rather than consumer electronics benchmarks. By 2023, INCEPTIO had logged over 50 million kilometres of autonomous commercial operations across China's National Trunk Highway System, where its autonomous features are now available on 100% of routes. More on the technical foundation is available on the official INCEPTIO Technology newsroom.

The Fully Redundant Control-by-Wire Chassis

Perhaps the most significant engineering achievement in the XUANYUAN platform is its fully redundant control-by-wire chassis, a first for the industry. Redundancy operates across steering, braking, and power supply systems, with 99 new function and performance definitions built into the chassis architecture. If a primary system fails, the truck switches to the redundant system within milliseconds, maintaining full operational safety without any driver intervention.

This level of redundancy goes beyond regulatory requirements and positions INCEPTIO's trucks as among the safest heavy vehicles operating on public roads today.

Human-Machine Interface Designed for Autonomous Driving

When a safety driver is present, the XUANYUAN HMI (Human Machine Interface) ensures total situational awareness. Full redundancy of visual, auditory, and tactile feedback keeps the safety operator informed at all times: a Driver Monitoring System tracks attention, atmosphere lighting signals system status, a voice reminder provides verbal alerts, a vibrating seat provides haptic feedback, and a pre-tightening safety belt activates before critical events. An In-Vehicle Infotainment system provides route and journey data throughout.

INCEPTIO's customers include Budweiser, Nestle, JD Logistics, and Deppon Express, all of whom rely on the XUANYUAN fleet for high-volume, time-critical freight operations. A detailed independent report by Autonomous Vehicle International covers a live 900 km autonomous haul across eastern China.
