Named after the prehistoric supercontinent Pangea, this terayacht would be the largest floating vessel ever built, blending a five-star resort, a cruise ship and a self-sufficient city into one staggering form.

The Pangeos Terayacht is a massive floating city designed to house a population of 60,000. Its unique turtle-like shape, measuring 1,800 feet, is a deliberate nod to the prehistoric supercontinent of Pangea. In terms of seafaring transportation, the Pangeos floating city is a true behemoth, dwarfing every conventional superyacht and cruise ship on the water today.
How is the Pangeos powered?
The Pangeos is supported by 30,000 individual cells and propelled by nine powerful engines, each boasting 16,800 horsepower. These engines are powered entirely by solar panels, making it an eco-friendly means of transportation with zero emissions. It can move at a top speed of around five knots and can also capture energy from waves and wind, allowing the terayacht to cruise almost indefinitely on clean energy.
What is life like on board?
The living quarters on the Pangeos consist of a mix of villas and apartments, with several recreational amenities including a rooftop mall, gardens, pools and a supersized beach club. The vessel also has facilities for tenders, helicopters and hangars, making transportation to and from the ship straightforward. In essence, the Pangeos floating city offers permanent residence at sea with the comforts of a luxury coastal town.
How much would the Pangeos cost and when could it be built?
Constructing this enormous floating city would require an equally massive shipyard. According to its designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini, the Pangeos would take roughly eight years and cost around $8 billion to complete, and it is so large it would need a custom terashipyard to be built at all.
