PORSCHE'S ADVENTURE REIMAGINED: THE G11G GRAVEL BY EDIT AUTOMOTIVE

The EDIT Automotive g11G Gravel is a restomod built on the Porsche 997 Carrera 4, 4S or GTS platform and engineered to handle gravel trails and unpaved roads without sacrificing the driving character that makes the 997 one of the most celebrated sports car generations in Porsche's history. The defining modification is an 80 mm chassis lift, transforming the 911's road-hugging stance into something more akin to a safari racer. Combined with a redesigned suspension, carbon fiber bodywork, rally lights and a retrimmed interior, the g11G Gravel targets drivers who want to drive further and in more conditions than any standard sports car would allow.

The 997 Foundation and What EDIT Changed

EDIT Automotive, based in Slovenia, chose the 997 generation (2004 - 2012) as its starting point because it is the last air-cooled-adjacent Porsche 911 platform before electronic complexity began to dominate the driving experience. The naturally aspirated flat-six, available in 3.6-litre or 3.8-litre form producing between 325 and 400 hp, is fully disassembled and rebuilt with new IMS bearings and stainless steel cylinder liners. The result is a mechanically fresh engine with extended reliability for the additional stresses of off-road use. Both manual and PDK transmission options are available. The limited-slip differential is retained, new GT3-specification front brake discs are fitted with Brembo callipers, and a performance exhaust system replaces the standard unit.

Exterior: Carbon, Ducktail and Rally Lights

The exterior design references the original 1963 Porsche 911 in proportion and line, with carbon fiber components at both the front and rear of the car. A ducktail spoiler, magnesium Fuchs-style retro wheels, additional rally lights mounted on the hood and wide fender flares that cover the extended track all serve the car's dual-purpose brief. The aesthetic is unmistakably 911, but the language is adventurous rather than purely track-focused. Each car is individually specified, with custom paint colours, interior materials and details determined in collaboration with the owner. Production is limited to 99 units, ensuring rarity alongside exclusivity.

Interior: Analogue with Modern Conveniences

Inside, the g11G delivers a deliberately analogue driving experience with a short-throw shifter and direct steering providing constant road feedback. The interior is trimmed in premium materials chosen by each client, with heated seats, air conditioning, wireless phone charging and Bluetooth connectivity. EDIT's philosophy is that modern convenience features should be present but invisible: they should not disrupt the connection between driver and machine that the 997 platform was designed to deliver. The short shifter, revised pedal box and steering all reinforce that brief.
