PROJECT WHITE RHINO 6X6 - DESTINED FOR THE WORLD

PROJECT WHITE RHINO 6X6 - DESTINED FOR THE WORLD - TheArsenale

The Classic Overland White Rhino 6x6 Land Rover Defender is one of the most extreme custom off-road builds ever created from an original 66-series Defender, combining a 682 HP GM Supercharged LT4 engine with a rare factory six-wheel configuration that was originally pressed into service by South African firefighters battling wildfires in vineyard terrain. Starting at $400,000, the White Rhino is built to order by Classic Overland, a Georgia-based specialist that has been creating bespoke Defender conversions since 2015.

What makes the White Rhino 6x6 Defender extraordinary?

Six-wheel-drive Land Rover Defenders are exceptionally rare. Classic Overland sources only genuine original 6x6 Defender bases for its three-axle builds, making each vehicle a one-of-a-kind commission. The White Rhino example was discovered in South Africa, where firefighters relied on it to carry equipment deep into the steep vineyard slopes. That working history gives the platform an authentic off-road provenance that purpose-built show trucks simply cannot match.

Powertrain and key specifications

The heart of the White Rhino is a GM Supercharged LT4 V8 engine producing 682 horsepower, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. A Warn winch on the front bumper handles recovery duties, while a snorkel air intake ensures the engine breathes clean air during deep water crossings. The bodywork is painted Icy White with Ligurian Black accents, and the truck rolls on 20-inch Kahn Mondial Retro wheels. Bespoke step bars and LED signal lights complete the exterior package, all finished to a standard that would look at home on a concours show field as much as a mountain trail.

Complete restoration and bespoke finishing

Classic Overland subjects every build to a full restoration before modifications begin. The White Rhino received a complete teardown, with every mechanical system rebuilt to modern standards before the LT4 swap and custom bodywork were applied. The result is a truck that looks genuinely imposing whether it is navigating a rocky trail in the mountains or turning heads on a city boulevard. No matter where it goes, this six-wheeled muscle monster commands attention.
