RAESR Taychon Speed is a Blazing Fast Electric Hypercar Prototype - TheArsenale

The RAESR Tachyon Speed electric hypercar is a Southern California-built prototype that sets out to build the most extreme battery-powered vehicle on earth. Created by Rice Advanced Engineering Systems and Research (RAESR), founded in 2014 in Los Angeles by Eric Rice, the Tachyon Speed was conceived as both a showcase for the company's design and engineering capabilities and a genuine attempt to push electric performance to limits that no production car has reached.

Performance: Six Motors, 1,250 HP, 240 mph

The Tachyon Speed is powered by six direct-drive electric motors producing a combined output of over 1,250 hp (930 kW) and 3,650 lb/ft of torque. RAESR quotes a claimed top speed of over 240 mph (386 km/h), a 0-60 mph time of under three seconds, 0-120 mph in under seven seconds, and a quarter mile in under 10 seconds. The battery pack delivers power bursts of up to 1.4 megawatts and provides a city driving range of approximately 150 miles. All-wheel drive is managed through Adjustable Traction Control, Advanced AWD Torque Vectoring, and ABS paired with carbon brakes.

At 150 mph, the active aerodynamic package generates 400 lbs of downforce in low-downforce configuration and over 1,000 lbs in high-downforce mode, achieved through adjustable active rear wings and four fixed front wings. The drag coefficient sits at 0.39 despite the aggressive bodywork.

Jet Fighter Design, Tandem Seating

Chris Khoury, RAESR Director of R&D, described the design brief directly: "We wanted to build the most extreme electric car. We decided to go with the tandem seater for the jet fighter look. Part of it was an aerodynamic endeavour: reducing the frontal area by having a narrower canopy." The tandem seating arrangement creates a narrow central fuselage with an aggressively sculpted forward section, giving the Tachyon Speed the visual language of a fighter aircraft rather than a sports car. The entire body is carbon fibre, and the car weighs as little as 2,950 lbs (1,338 kg) in dry trim, an exceptional figure for a vehicle with this power output.

RAESR designs and engineers vehicles for third-party clients. The Tachyon Speed functions as a live demonstration of the firm's capabilities: if they can engineer a 1,250-hp electric hypercar from scratch in Los Angeles, they can solve practically any performance engineering brief.
