The newest contender in the electric car market is the newest electric hypercar by Californian company RAESR (Rice Advanced Engineering Systems & Reseach). Designed and built entirely in Southern-California, the Taychon Speed is aimed at the electric hypercar market with a power output of more than 1000 hp.
RAESR offers design and engineering services for other companies and they used the Taychon Speed as a showcase for their skills; and it is a true showstopper. Chris Khoury, RAESR Director of R&D said "We wanted to build the most extreme electric car. We decided to go with the tandem seater for the jet fighter look. Part of it was an aerodynamic endeavor – reducing the frontal area by having a narrower canopy.”
The Tachyon Speed features an aggressive design and thanks to the tandem seats, it features a narrow front end that is aggressively sculpted with four front wings. Despite being simply a showcase, the car has a 1250HP+ engine with 3650 LB/FT of torque. RAESR claims the car has a top speed of over 240 mph but that is still to be verified; however it beats every other electric car in this field. Sadly, the range is only 150 miles for city driving; but the Taychon Speed remains a showcase of their capabilities. All the power is controlled using Adjustable Traction Control, Advanced AWD Torque Vectoring and ABS + Carbon brakes.
