Rimac was born in 2009 in Croatia with the mission to create the best electric supercar. When their Concept One was released, the automotive industry stopped and took note how a small company with a big passion can create incredibly good supercars. With 1,228 hp, Rimac entered supercar territory with their first ever car and have decided to step up the game with the new C_Two.
Unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Rimac Automobili shocked the crowd with the digits behind this insane car. With 1,914 hp and 1,696 lb-ft of torque, the car is hard to be categorized. It certainly is more powerful that any supercar or the infamous hypercar triad; Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and McLaren P1. As you probably expected, the acceleration will pull your stomach around your spine as it can go from 0-96 km/h in around 1.85 seconds. Top speed is clocking in at 415 km/h because you certainly don't need to go faster than that; ever.
How does the Concept Two handle all this power? With the strangest yet greatest drivetrain ever. Front wheels are driven by a single-speed drive motor but the rear-wheels have two-speed gearboxes; one for G-force simulator like acceleration and one for blazing top-speed digits. In order to keep you on the road, the car has a torque vectoring system that keeps the wheels towards the same direction; directing all four of them for maximum traction. If you want to have some sliding fun with the C_Two, it's quite easy. Just twist a knob on the dashboard and the car will let you play around with her rear-end (wink-wink).
The body, gull-wing doors and the monocoque chassis are all built out of carbon fiber that helps the car maintain a relatively low weight figure for its massive batteries and dual motors at only 1,950kg. C_Two has a range of 650 km and can charge from 0-80% in just 30 minutes using a fast charger. But performance isn't the only thing this beauty shines, it's loaded with technology. It features facial recognition that opens the doors automatically as you approach the car, a smart weather detection system that adjusts the powertrain accordingly. How about a mood detection system that detects your bad mood and softens the throttle and ride while playing you relaxing music?
The C_Two also has one of the most interesting features when taken to the track. Rimac programmed race track information inside the car so whenever you go to a track it recognizes, it will display racing lines and braking point data on the screen to help you shave off those tenths of seconds. If there's someone riding shotgun, the car will also provide them with helpful data that they can read out to you as you drive it. But it doesn't end here; the C_Two is capable of level 4 autonomous driving. Equipped wth 8 cameras, 6 radars, 12 ultrasonic dots and LiDAR connected to 72 ECUs and processors; a computing power equal to 22 Macbook Pros. This enables the car to handle itself while it plays relaxing music to fix your bad mood; you spoiled brat. How could you possibly be in a bad mood sitting inside a car like this?
Don't let the name fool you, the Concept Two is not actually a concept. It is a real car and it will hit the market soon as Rimac releases it to the public. Until then, Richard Hammond please keep your hands off this one. We have no idea how they made it possible but thank you for doing so. Živjeli Rimac, you brilliant speed freaks.
