SEA ROVER: THE WORLD’S FIRST WELLNESS SUPERYACHT
The Sea Rover superyacht by Dutch Design redefines what luxury at sea can look like when wellness, not opulence, is placed at the centre of the brief. Conceived by Scott Blum and naval designer Bernd Weel, the 42.5-metre vessel draws on Californian modernism and a philosophy of mindful living to produce a design that is deliberately quieter and more considered than the average superyacht. Construction on the first hull began in October 2025, with a targeted delivery in April 2028. Only ten bespoke examples will be built.
A Wellness Brief, Not a Showcase Brief
The Sea Rover was initiated by Scott Blum after he found himself unable to locate a production yacht that matched his desire for a genuinely healthy, balanced life at sea. Working with Bernd Weel, whose previous work includes the BOAT International Design and Innovation Award-winning Lady Fleur, the brief prioritised spa facilities, gym space with views, and a sports court over the conventional superyacht checklist of grand saloons and formal dining rooms. The result is a vessel where every square metre has been evaluated against a wellness standard rather than a prestige one.

The onboard wellness infrastructure includes a full spa on the main deck, featuring a dual-temperature plunge pool, jacuzzi, sauna, infrared therapy wall, and dedicated massage area. The gym occupies a position on the bridge deck, giving it panoramic views that most superyacht gyms buried in the lower decks cannot offer. A convertible sports court on the upper deck can be configured for pickleball, basketball, paddle tennis, or volleyball. The beach club on the main deck features folding platforms that open out to create a large swimming area directly accessible from the guest cabins on the lower deck. A Sky View Stairwell draws natural light through all decks, and the engine room is framed by a glass hallway, turning mechanical infrastructure into part of the experiential design rather than hiding it away.
Accommodations: Five Staterooms, Japanese Onsen Suite, and a 270-Degree Beach Club
The Sea Rover accommodates 12 guests across five staterooms and carries nine crew. The owner's suite at the forward end of the main deck is anchored by a Japanese onsen-style soaking tub and steam room, bringing the spa ethos into the most private space on the vessel. Four additional guest cabins each have direct access to the beach club below. The wider accommodation philosophy uses minimalistic lines, sustainable materials, and understated craftsmanship to create a sense of space and calm that is harder to achieve on yachts that prioritise visual complexity.
