The Škoda Slavia B concept motorbike is more than just an electric café racer—it is a tribute to the early days of Škoda’s rich design and engineering legacy. Originally introduced in the late 19th century by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement, founders of the early Škoda precursor Laurin & Klement, the Slavia B motorcycle was a significant leap in two-wheeled innovation. The updated Slavia B concept, designed by French stylist Romain Bucaille, combines retro inspiration with Škoda’s “Modern Solid” design language. Featuring clean, flat surfaces and bold color contrasts, the concept maintains simplicity while breathing new life into the legacy of the brand. This homage intertwines Škoda’s earliest engineering success with its current dedication to innovation and design.

The Slavia B concept’s design also incorporates subtle nods to its historical roots. The integration of a leather toolbag pays homage to the original motorcycle’s role in endurance racing, particularly its victory in the 1901 Paris–Berlin race with rider Narcis Podsedníček. Built as an electric motorcycle, the new prototype retains sleek and balanced proportions, echoing Laurin’s intrinsic understanding of motorbike geometry over a hundred years ago. While the original Slavia B paved the way for Laurin & Klement’s rise as Austria-Hungary’s leading automotive manufacturer, the modern rendition signals a deep respect for heritage while aligning with contemporary trends in sustainability and electric mobility.

Though Škoda has yet to confirm production of the Slavia B concept, its intent is clear: to bridge the brand’s storied history with its modern-day vision. This approach is part of Škoda’s “Icons Get a Makeover” initiative, which previously reimagined other milestones like its 1203 van and the 200 RS rally car. The reimagined Slavia B sparks conversations about the brand’s diverse design history, showcasing how Škoda continues to marry passion for innovation with timeless craftsmanship. Whether or not this sleek café racer makes it to production, it casts a bright spotlight on the multifaceted heritage of Škoda Auto.
