Vauxhall’s latest concept, the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, redefines the company’s approach to compact performance vehicles. Debuting at IAA Mobility in Munich, this all-electric race car transforms the iconic Corsa into a bold, futuristic design experiment. With extreme active aerodynamics, a dramatic colour scheme of yellow, white, and black, and a massive tarmac-hugging stance, the GSE Vision Gran Turismo fuses Vauxhall’s legacy with cutting-edge EV technology. The concept is not just a celebration of Vauxhall’s storied past but also a vision of its performance-focused future under the GSE (Grand Sport Electric) sub-brand.
Designed for virtual racetracks but influenced by real-world principles, the GSE Vision Gran Turismo features an innovative mix of sustainability and performance. The bodywork incorporates a new flax-based material, providing a sustainable alternative to traditional carbon fiber. Aerodynamic highlights include a rear spoiler and an extendable yellow diffuser for enhanced performance, underscoring the vehicle’s racing heritage. The interior reflects simplicity tailored for racing, with a fixed seat integrated into the chassis, a moveable pedal box, and a steering column—all aiming to reduce cognitive load for drivers. Unique features, such as lights embedded in the dash to provide quick visual warnings and a red "boost" button that delivers a surge of power, show Vauxhall’s attention to detail and its focus on the driver’s experience.
Although the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo is unlikely to translate directly into a production vehicle, its debut signals a bold design and technological direction for the brand. The concept channels the spirit of iconic hot hatches from the 80s and 90s while leveraging the electrification boom to revitalize Vauxhall’s position in performance cars.
